The Annapurna Circuit Trek takes you to the Tibet-like country on the northern slopes of the Himalaya and the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge. This trek starts with a drive of about 8 hrs to a bustling little boomlet town Besisahar (823m). After an overnight in Besisahar the trail starts through typical hill country inhabited by Gurungs and Chhetris. It slowly passes through wonderful rice paddy fields and into cooler zones, changing from pine forest to open meadows, and finally into dry rainshadow area of Manang. The mountain views from here are just superb. The greatest thrill and most demanding part of the trek comes as you cross the high pass of Thorung La (5416m), which offers stunning mountain views. We will pass through the village of Muktinath - an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. This trek is a classic, the Annapurna region offering a mixture of local cultures and tribes, stunning landscapes and mountain views, and the challenge of crossing the 5416m Thorung La Pass.
